Show and Tell Tuesday: Momfessionals

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

Today, I figured I would try something new and link up with Andrea, for Show and Tell Tuesday and share some "Momfessional Moments" otherwise known as little things we want (or don't want )to confess that we do as a mom. This is going to be good ;)

Disclaimer: I love my kids. I love spending time with them and I love being a stay at home mom. They are my world but every mom has a few secrets ;)

Candy
I have a one piece of candy a day rule for the kids, if that. The days they have a sweet snack they don't have candy. I strictly limit their sugar intake, due to their unlimited amounts of energy. After bed time I may or may not go through all of their Halloween, Valentines day, Easter Candy ---Whatever the closest holiday was. you get the picture. Gus usually joins me so I really don't feel that bad.

Juice
I always water Gus and Olivia's juice down. Again, way too much sugar. they have no idea.

Getting Ready
Every morning before getting Gus Jr. to school I get the kids ready bring them downstairs and serve them their breakfast and put them in front of the TV for "morning cartoons" while I go hide out in my room and "finish getting ready". Some days that means but enough makeup on to look somewhat normal. Other days it means sit down and breath and close your eyes in the peace and quiet for 15 minutes because it's already been a rough morning.

Bathtime
I hate bath-time. mainly because they always somehow manage to get me wet. always. it never fails. They're toddlers. They think splashing is the greatest thing ever. It is also during witching hour--usually late afternoon usually right around dinner until bedtime where the kids go crazy and super dooper hyper. If Gus is home in time to bathe the kiddos then I normally have him help me get the bath "started" and take my time to get Olivia's milk downstairs. By the time I get back up they're nice and ready to be dried and put in their pj's....I think he has already caught on.

I'd love to know what your "Momfessional Moments" are!!

Update on Dad: Thank you for all of your continued prayers!! Dad had developed a low grade fever over the weekend so the doctor is running some tests to see the origin of the fevers. They have finally started him on a solid diet after almost a week of liquids and IV only. Hopefully, he will be home in a couple short days!
Keep the prayers coming!! We really appreciate it!!

Lately + Update

Friday, May 15, 2015

First, I want to thank everyone for your texts, phone calls, comments and well wishes. My dad's surgery went great yesterday. No complications and they got all of the cancer out. He is stable and will be in the hospital for a couple days recovering. We are grateful that my sister, who is an RN was able to be there for comfort and moral support for both my parents.

We are still asking for prayers, as he continues the recovery process. Prayers are so powerful!!!

Secondly, little miss O figured out how to climb out of her crib a couple weeks ago...surprise surprise. Big girl bed here we come!

Now, when she doesn't want to nap or go to bed at night she will just climb out of her crib, like it's all good, try on every pair of shoes in her closet and maybe add a tutu to her current outfit. Every mother's dream, huh?

We never wet through this with Gus...he was in a big boy bed at 18 months and the transition didn't even phase him! Perfect example of every child is different!!

I am so ready for school to be over!! We have about two weeks of school left and there is so much going on! We've got teacher appreciation, Parent/teacher conferences, End of the year activities and the list goes on!

It's all a little cray cray over here!!
Trying to make the best of it!!

Happy weekending!!
TGIF!!

Style || Summer Trends for Kids

Wednesday, May 13, 2015

This year's summer trends are involving lots of embroidery, tassels and pom poms and for little girls it's no different. I picked a few faves from one my favorite stores...J crew. Now that Gus and Olivia are practically in kids sizes (where did my babies go?! I can't believe this is happening and it's giving me bad case of baby fever!!) I can finally shop at crew cuts for them!! eeekkkk!! Can you sense the excitement?!

All of these picks are from the Online Factory Store -- which by the way is amazing!!!

Once again, I am a sucker for color. love the brights. I also love what they did with the regular chino shorts --making them more feminine by adding ruffles. Genius. Lots of colored shorts that you can mix and match with almost any of the tops below!

And well, for the boys, Navy is always in. at least at our house. Gus is going through a phase where he only wants to wear blue. But lots of colored shorts and seersucker --which are two faves of mine. I think Gus has has a pair of seersucker shorts every summer since he was born. And it's such a neutral! You can easily pair it with almost any color.

Mother's Day + Prayers

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

Happy late Mother's Day to all the wonderful mama's out there! We spent our Mother's Day weekend in Orlando with my Sister in law and her two kiddos.

We visited Mickey and Minnie Saturday--that was long and exhausting but we had a blast! I dont know how people do Disney World for a whole week. I'm still getting over one single day at Magic Kingdom.

Sunday we had a quick Mother's Day brunch and headed back to Miami and relaxed the rest of the day. it was perfection. well close to it.

One thing motherhood has taught me is that nothing will ever be perfect or go as planned. And that's why sometimes you just have to go with the flow---that's one of the hardest things for me. I'm a planner.

You need an extra dose of patience for everything and lots and lots of caffeine. LOTS. oh and wine. I've learned to multitask to the extreme sometimes doing 3 things at once.

But that's why I try to savor every moment that matters when your little ones are young. These moments only come once. And come and go so quick.

It really is also one of the most sacrificing, yet rewarding things a woman will ever experience in life.

Real quick before I close up for today...Please keep my family in your prayers. My dad is going in for a hopefully simple procedure Thursday. Please pray that everything goes smoothly without any complications. I am confident everything will turn out fine and God has a plan for everything.

xoxo
