Back to School.

Wednesday, July 29, 2015

I can't believe we're almost in August. Time has just flown by!

August is a busy month for us, Gustavo is starting Pre-School again, Gus turns 30, I think about half of our families have birthdays as well!

This weekend we got a head start and completed ALL of our back to school shopping. Yes, all of it! Call me cray cray but Miami is a large city with, A LOT of people and A LOT of traffic. And yes, I hate traffic and I can't even bare the thought of the uniform store a couple weeks before school starts. I am sure it gets so incredibly packed, you can't even walk in because in typical Miami fashion everyone waits until the last minute to buy everything for back to school.
Not this mama!!

Gustavo got accepted into a Catholic School for this upcoming school year -- which we are thankful for! Well we bought uniforms and Gustavo tried them all on! He was such a sweetie! He was so excited to try everything on!

My mom used to get all the Pottery Barn catalogs delivered to our house, growing up and I always LOVED all the book-bags they had but I was already too old for them, at the time. Sad day. I always told myself I would get those for my kids.

So Saturday we took a trip to Pottery Barn Kids and let him pick out his first big boy book-bag( although he is only going to Pre-K 3 ). At his prior preschool they didn't use book-bags -- they just had a tote sitting in their cubby with an extra change of clothes and it got replaced when needed.

He was sooo excited!! He loved looking around (and touching, sigh)! Thank God PBK is semi-toddler friendly! And when I say toddler friendly I mean have things in the store that will keep your toddler occupied while you stand in the checkout line and don't have items at toddler eye level that they will completely destroy.

Of course, he picked out the Marvel Avengers print book-bag and we got him the matching lunchbox! (We had to take advantage of the back to School sale they were having).

Hope you're having a good week so far!

Friday Faves || DVF Edition

Friday, July 24, 2015

Happpy Friday friends!! Once again I am linking up with Andrea and the girls!!

Soooo last night I changed out of my mom uniform for the day ( a workout outfit and no I did not workout) and threw on a pair of heels and some makeup and headed out to champagne and shopping event hosted by the girls at DVF at the Village of Merrick Park. We got a first look at the new Fall Collection which has only arrived at the Miami store!

The collection is beautiful!! There are so many exquisite pieces!

I had such a blast!! I tried on some fabulous pieces and there is quite a bit of pink in this collection so you know that's right up my alley!

Here are my favorites from the collection...

This jumpsuit is gorgeous!! The picture does not do it justice. The top half is all lace!

This dress was my absolute favorite piece! It fit like a glove. And was so flattering!

I loved this beauty because you could wear it with and without a belt or sash and you have two dresses in one. It is also very loose so great for expectant mommies with a growing tummy.

It was so comfortable and airy!!

And then this print just killed me! I love the lips!

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!!

Friday Favorites.

Friday, July 17, 2015

I know I ALWAYS say TGIF but this time I mean it a thousand times more! The blog has been a little quiet this week since the hubby has been out of town all week on business and he gets home tonight!! --which means it's been sort of a rough week over here-- just me and the kids!! Makes me value my sweet husband so much more!!

The kids and I have missed him so much! Thank goodness for facetime!

one. This momma started this week off with a good amount of caffeine...prepping for the week ahead. I stuck with Summer "go to" drink...a Grande Iced Vanilla Latte. It was a good Monday! ;)

two. We've tried almost every baby sunscreen on the market and there are only a couple that don't make my little ones break out...Babyganics is one of them! And love the price tag!! We had been using Neutrogena for the longest time and the other day I had to restock and figured I would try this!

three. Did you snag anything at the Old Navy and Gap sales this week?! I got some crazy summer  steals. I always stock up at the end of the season because it's Summer year-round here!! Oh and I had a saddest mom moment---I had to go into the big boy section for G !!! And Olivia is almost right there with him! The two dresses I grabbed for her were size 5T!!!!

Where did my babies go?! or toddlers?!

My two sidekicks had the best time posing and trying to blend in with the Old Navy Manikins!!

four. One of besties Sara came over Wednesday for a little mid-week vino to celebrate that we had both made half a week with our hubbies out of town! Good chats, good vino and some laughs were also included!!

five. Yesterday, was a no nap, multiple tantrum, nothing went right type of day. As a result of the no naps, we opted for an emergency target trip for diapers and we headed to release the rest of the energy they had left at the jumpy place. you know one of those places filled with bounce houses, an adults worst nightmare.

The kiddos got their bedtime bumped up to 7pm and this momma poured her herself a glass of chardonnay and called it a night!

Happy Weekending!!

Friday Favorites

Friday, July 10, 2015

TGIF!! no but seriously. Hooray!!!!!  Friday, I missed you. This has been a looonnngggg week of swimming lessons. and this girl is most definitely going to need a glass of wine(or two) tonight.

Today I'm linking with Andrea for Friday Favorites again!!

ONE. This week the kiddos started swimming lessons. They were both pretty terrified of the pool. Living in Miami, where its pretty much Summer year round, swimming lessons are pretty crucial. They have been doing great so far. We go everyday! And I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of enjoying those 40 min of not having to chase or reprimand a toddler, while I am waiting.

Gustavo is already diving into the pool and swimming to the ledge--I am pretty impressed!! And Olivia is still working on some basic skills.

TWO. I styled one of my favorite maxi dresses on the blog earlier this week. Just in case you missed it you can find it here!! You can't go wrong with a little neon and some embroidery!!

THREE. So yesterday was a whirlwind of a day. I left the house really early to run a few errands with G and O, came home unloaded everything. Got them ready for swimming and packed up our tote--towels, dry clothes, snacks and diapers. Got to swimming lessons--the kids did their thing. And then we were already to leave to go home. I had a very productive afternoon planned of household chores and then I realized I had locked my keys in the car when I was changing Olivia's diaper. motherhood fail.

I freaked for a quick 2 min. Called Gus, of course he was on the other side of Miami and he had the spare key with him. Thankfully my sister-in-law lives just two blocks away and she came to the rescue!! We hung out at her house until Gus could bring me the spare key to unlock the car.

FOUR. I'm still working on reading this baby. I've been taking advantage of swimming lessons to read. I need to make more time to read!

FIVE. Wednesday, I shared my favorite makeup products. grocery store and sephora finds. If you missed it...the post is here!!

Happy Weekending!!

Favorite Everyday Beauty Picks

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

Today, I am revealing my favorite beauty picks! I tend to mix beauty products...I use some nicer ones from department stores and other grocery store products. The ones I have from the grocery store are all products that I love and have used for years, like the Revlon, Nearly Naked foundation.

You can click the product directly below and it will take you directly to the link! --totally excited about this, by the way~ ;)

The Laura Mercier eye primer is a total game changer that allows your eye makeup to last all day with no smudge. This may be one of my, "I can't live without products".

The Clinique Bronzer is one my faves as well! I have been using it for years. and never get tired of it. It gives just the right about of "bronze look without making you look orange.

The Sugar lip balm is amazing to keep your lips hydrated!! I loooooove the way it makes my lips feel!! And I love the different color options that are available.

The Nars Blush I use in "orgasm" color gives just the right amount of pink on your cheeks.

The Revlon Colorburst Matte is a new fave. It's a quick lip balm with just the right amount of color!! And with a grocery store price it's even better!

I have used Revlon foundation for years. The Color Stay and the Nearly Naked are both great options! The Color Stay lasts a little longer and Nearly Naked is great for lighter coverage.

And my all time "go to" Essie color is Ballet slippers. This is the color I've been using on all my style posts lately. It looks clean, it's classic and is versatile. Couldn't be more perfect!!

It's no secret yours truly loves a good maxi dress. This one is one my faves! It's been on repeat and probably will be for the rest of the summer. I just can't get enough of the bright colors and the embroidery! What more can you ask for in a dress?

As a mom, maxi's with the little ones are a must in my book. They hide, you look put together, are comfortable and you don't have to worry about some hanky panky accidents, if you know what I mean. Having two toddlers at the same time, one thing I have learned is that it is better to be comfortable ;).

beach, splash pad, pool. repeat.

Monday, July 6, 2015

We're all exhausted this morning from a long weekend of no naps and going to bed wayyyyy past bedtime. But hey it was a good one!

Friday, we kicked off the weekend with a nice 4 mile run (hubby was a trooper and he pushed the double the stroller). He made us Croque Madame for breakfast after our run-- in case, you were wondering I am still sore. Talk about MAJOR brownie points...he really is the best!! ;)

We swung by Starbucks. I got my classic iced vanilla latte and then hit the park with my sister in law and the cousins and called it a day. This heat is pretty insane were getting down here!

Saturday, we woke up early and headed to the beach with Gus' family. We beached it all day. The most perfect sand bar formed and we played and played in the water...

There was lots of sand throwing, on Olivia's part...

Gustavo ran around alllll day with his big cousins...

The kids had a blast. and then we grilled out and watched fireworks from their building on the bay. It was a beautiful view! I didn't get a family picture of us in our patriotic family outfits. blogger fail to the max.

We spent the night at my in-laws and then woke up and hit up the cutest new splash pad they built in their neighborhood.

And I may have found the cutest bathrooms at the splash pad...

The kiddos hit the pool after that. We grilled out then we came back home to finish up some laundry and get ready for a long week of swimming lessons for Gus....eeekkkk

Hope you and your families had a fabulous fourth!!

Friday Favorites

Friday, July 3, 2015

Happy Friday Friends and happy first day of the long weekend celebrating America!!

I'm back today with Friday Favorites with Andrea and the girls!!

ONE. It's been a tough week for us...getting back from nice relaxing weekend. Thankfully it was short one. Earlier this week I re-capped our adult getaway to Hutchinson Island. In case, you missed it you can find the post here

Also, I am wayyy late in the game reading this book but it's sooooo funny!! Totally recommend it, if by any chance you haven't read it!

TWO.  My mom came in town and stayed with the kiddos and she stayed a few extra days after we got back. She left Wednesday morning but the littles are missing her like crazy. Olivia keeps asking "Where'd Abu went?"

THREE. Avocado Toast with an egg on top is my new favorite breakfast. It has so many vitamins, lots of protein and not to mention good fats. It's been on repeat.

FOUR. I've been trying to eat more salads again this week and substituting carbs at dinner time with veggies. I made this salad for lunch yesterday. (I won't tell you how many coconut-chocolate cookies I just ate as I'm writing this ;)--the struggle is real.

FIVE. Gustavo starts swimming lessons next week...kind of a mix of emotions. I'm excited slash scared for him because he is currently pretty terrified of the pool. The ocean he loves but the pool is a totally different ball game. Keep us in our prayers--as I won't be allowed to go near the pool area while he is in class.

My mom took them for ice cream while she was here and oh boy...this guy ordered chocolate chip ice cream with gummy bears and m&m's. talk about sugar overload. But hey, that's what grandma's are for right?

SIX. Last week I linked-up my style post with the girls at The Creative Closet and this week I was the featured blogger! It was so sweet of Jana! Thanks for having me Jana!! You can click here for the feature! Scroll down to the bottom and there I am!

SEVEN. I am loving this watermelon romper I found for O. a Walmart find---score. Ummm it's definitely on repeat. She loves it and so do I. so it's a win, win. We all know dressing a two year old always involves a battle and tears- either on her end or mine.

EIGHT. I posted a little last minute holiday momma and mini style inspiration,  yesterday!! The kids and I had so much fun with this! The full post is here.

Hope you have a great long weekend with your families!!
