DIY Dining Room Gallery Wall

Happy Monday!! 

I hope you had a great weekend! We sure did! It was busy busy! Gus had a birthday party Saturday and Sunday Olivia competed in her first beauty pageant--Which was soooo adorable! She didnt win but it's not a big deal. She's only 16 months  and it was her first one. It's all a learning experience! She LOVED being on stage! I'll have to share pictures soon! 

I found this inspiration on Pinterest for a gallery wall on the back wall of my dining room. I love black and white pictures so it was just perfect! 

After Gus' Birthday Party on Saturday, we headed down to IKEA and I found some similar frames. And my wonderful husband put them up for me! If you follow me on Instagram im sure you saw the pictures of Gus helping daddy out! He's the cutest thing ever!

I am so happy the way it turned out! I only bought four frames because our ceilings are nowhere near as high as the inspiration picture! but I still LOVE how it turned out! (The frames are white--im not sure why they look yellow in the picture)

I got some architecture prints printed at Staples for cheap--about $1.29 each---you can't beat it and plus you can't even tell it's not picture paper when they're in the frame and up on the wall! 

This was such a simple little project and added a nice little "homey" touch to home!

DIY// Easter Egg Garland

With Easter right around the corner I wanted to spruce up the kid's table set so I made this adorable Easter Egg garland using Paint Swatches and thought I HAD to share! This is very low in cost, simple to make and just absolutely adorable...you know me, I'm all about simple! This would be super cute for like a preschool Easter party, on your mantle or even in a nursery!

Materials:

Paint Swatches in colors of your choice

Wired string 

pencil or marker

whole punch (not pictures)

scissors

The paint swatches I just went and picked up a Home Depot .

(sorry Home Depot, you're probably low on paint  swatches)

The wired string I had leftover from another project but I got it at Micheal's and I don't think I spent more than like $4 on it. You could also use Baker's twine...I've seen it in the dollar section at Target. 

The first thing you are going to do is flip your first color swatch over and draw an egg shape on the back. (where the writing is) It took me a few tries but since the paper is pretty thick it doesn't show up on the front. I used one color swatch for each egg. 

Since, there is a little writing on both sides(right and left) of the color side of the paper you have to draw the egg in the middle to not get any writing in. Keep that in mind when you are picking up the color swatches.

Cut it out and it will look like this. 

 then trace it on the back of the other color swatches. 

Cut them all out and you will have a bunch of eggs

Next, you are going to punch a hole at the top of each paper egg and take the wired string and string it through the hole. Join both strings and twist the two pieces of string together, securing the egg so it can't move. 

Leave a little room and repeat with the other eggs.

Valentine's Day Mini-Party

I typically don't post on the weekends but I just couldn't wait to share these photos I took of the kiddos today! And since it is February 1st, I figured what better way to get in the Valentine's Day than to have a mini-party for the little ones. It lasted no more than 15 minutes-until the pink strawberry icing got out of hand haha. 

-the heart garland //I found at the dollar tree (fab find)

-the banner// I made from cardstock and glitter foam sheets I had 

-the straws //I had left over from Gus' first birthday

 (I had ordered them from Amazon.com)

-the mini's //up top are mini yogurt shots and I cut two paper straws in two and added them for decor

-the brownies //are mini-brownies from publix bakery. I added the pink frosting for color.

-V-Day print in Frame//  Amanda from Happily Ever After has 3 free Valentine's day printable which are so adorable!

We don't know what we're in for yet on her first birthday! She may eat her entire cake by herself! haha This girl didn't waste any time! 

Yep, she went to straight to the bathtub after this haha!

DIY// Ribbon Garland

Last week I was feeling crafty and put together a little ribbon garland for the wall that Olivia's crib is on. That wall was bare. There was nothing on it so I figured I would spruce it up a little.

 I like to buy ribbon at a wholesale supply and they sell it by the spool which is 25 yards. So you NEVER run out :). (And it's much more cost effective) I happened  to have the colors of her bedding and decor so I got busy!

Materials:

scissors

4 or 5 different colors/prints of ribbon or strips of fabric 

(you could use different widths, mix fabric and ribbon prints to make it more interesting)

tape

Pins to attach to the wall

measuring tape or ruler

Instructions:

I used a thick white ribbon, hot pink, light pink with white polka-dots, and lime green. 

I measured out how long I wanted the garland to be and then added a little length to each side and cut my main piece of ribbon that size.

Figure out how long you want the garland to fall and then double it. That is how long you are going to cut your pieces of ribbon in each color or print. Cut a good amount out. I would cut a few a time and as I would run out, I cut more. 

I taped the main of ribbon, close to the edge of my kitchen table. You could also use your kitchen counter.

Start tieing the strips of ribbon to the long main piece. Slip the strip underneath the main piece until it is about half way through and tie with a double knot facing down. Create a pattern with the colors, prints or textures you chose. Do this for the rest of the ribbon strips and cut more out, as needed. 

When you are done, hang with the pins on your wall!

DIY: Polka-Dot Holiday Wrapping Paper

Hello there!! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving with their family and friends! We sure did! This is the first year that Little Gus is starting to understand a little bit more what is going on  and he has become quite the little helper! So Friday he helped me put up our Christmas tree. We had Christmas music playing all day, it was so nice! He loved taking out all of our ornaments, of course he thought they were balls so he threw them everywhere. Thank God I have yet to invest in  some nice ornaments and mine are nice, cheap, and plastic so no harm can be done...hehe. Nevertheless, it was so nice to have him be a part of the Christmas tree this year.

This weekend I made some pretty fabulous wrapping paper (budget-friendly, of course) and wanted to share on how to make it! It's oh so very simple and will need just a few materials! The very best part is that I already had everything I needed so I only spent $1 !! The hubs was so excited hahah! 

- Craft paint in color(s) of your choice

- Wine corks

(I have been saving the corks off the bottles of wine we open ;))

-Brown Mailing paper 

($1 at the Dollar Tree or you can get it at the Post Office)

-Ribbon for wrapping the gift afterwards

(Had some left-over from my son's birthday party)

-Tape

-Scissors

All you have to do it unravel the mailing paper on the floor or on a long table and dip one end of the cork into the paint and stamp away! I used different corks for each color. The corks make the most perfect circles on the paper. I left mine to dry overnight because I didn't want to risk any smudges. 

This is a cute project that you could even do with your little ones, obviously with kids paint and not permanent craft paint.
